Barber Surgeons' Hall, located in EC2 London, has been the home of the Worshipful Company of Barbers since 1430 although the Company can trace it roots to 1308.
Tucked away from the bustle of the City of London in the private and tranquil Monkwell Square, the Barber- Surgeons' Hall is a perfect venue for events such as: meetings, training, conferences, lunches, dinners, wedding receptions or presentations.
Overlooking gardens and the historic London Wall makes this location seem even more remote, whilst being in the heart of the City.
Barber-Surgeons' Hall is situated in the EC2 area of London and is easily accessible from London underground stations St. Pauls, Moorgate or Barbican.
Although a modern building, the Hall is steeped in history and is home to a range of magnificent paintings including the famous portrait of Henry VIII by Hans Holbein.
The Great Hall, in which the painting hangs, is a spacious and gracious room which is flooded with natural daylight and opens onto an outdoor terrace.
The Great Hall
The impressive Great Hall; with its elaborately decorated high ceilings and huge windows, is a large and bright room which is popular for meetings, presentations, lunches and dinners. It is large enough to accommodate 250 guests for a reception and allows for flexible seating arrangements for up to 120 guests.
The Reception Room
The large, bright and airy Reception Room is used as a breakout space and for drinks prior to dining in the Great Hall.
The Court Room and Charter Room
In addition, these two smaller rooms are idea for additional breakout rooms or for use as VIP areas.
The Terrace
The doors from the Great Hall lead to a terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens, a section of the Roman London Wall, and the Barbers' Company herb garden. The terrace is ideal for summer cocktail parties, as well as for pre-lunch or dinner drinks.
2011 Christmas receptions at Barber-Surgeons’ Hall
We have created a traditional Christmas package to reflect the surroundings of the Hall to include:
- exclusive venue hire for up to three hours
- unlimited mulled wine, sparkling wine, bottled beer, house wine and soft drinks reception
- christmas canapés (10 bites – 5 hot and 5 cold)
- a soloist musician playing Christmas tunes
- mini hot mince pies

Use the outdoor terrace for your wedding reception drinks and photos followed by the wedding breakfast in the Great Hall.
It is a spacious and gracious room which is flooded with natural daylight - ideal for wedding receptions.
The adjoining Reception Room is predominantly used for reception drinks as a wet weather option but can be used as a smaller, more intimate dining area.
Basic wedding breakfast menus package includes:
- exclusive venue hire
- champagne and canapé reception
- three course meal followed by coffee and petit fours
- half a bottle of house wine and mineral water with the meal
- glass of Champagne for the toast
