Venue Gallery: Saddlers Hall

Situated in the heart of the City of London, Saddlers’ Halls glorious mansion house stands in apposition it has occupied for over 600 years. The Saddlers Company received their first royal charter in the year 1395 and is built in a traditional style for the era. Extensive replanning carried out at the end of the Second World War meant that Saddlers lost much of their original medieval freehold due to compulsory purchase orders. The new hall had to be built on what remained of the company’s land since the loss of the former frontage on Cheapside. The present Hall which was built between 1956/58, still stands in part of the site of the first Saddlers’ Hall, on a portion of land between Gutter Lane and Vedast’s Church.
