Venue Gallery: Mary Ward House

Mary Ward House

Description:

Mary Ward House is an attractive Grade 1 listed building, financed by the wealthy philanthropist Passmore Edwards and built in 1898. The inspiration behind the endeavor was Mary Ward, the novelist and social reformer, and the construction of the building was to provide a centre of training, care and entertainment for the less fortunate in society. Each of the five distinctive rooms are finely proportioned and have their own unique character and ambience, from the distinctive library to the extensive hall. Mary Ward is an ideal venue for lectures, concerts, plays, exams, trade/art exhibitions and weddings. Mary Ward House has a separate entrance and the courtyard and landscaped gardens, surrounding the hall on two sides, also offer an ideal environment for summer events and weddings.
