Venue Gallery: Carpenters' Hall
Description:
The Carpenters' Company is one of the City of London’s oldest livery companies, its existence being recorded as early as 1271. The Carpenters’ Company regulated the building trade in the City of London and oversaw carpentry training through the apprenticeship system. Over the years, in spite of fluctuations in wealth and status, the Carpenters Company has adhered to its principal objectives: fostering the trade and performing charitable works. The Company has been located on London Wall since its first Hall was built in 1429. The Hall survived the Great Fire, its surrounding gardens acting as a firebreak , but was pulled down in 1876 to make way for Throgmorton Avenue and the Company’s second hall. The Hall offers a superb setting for corporate hospitality or commercial presentations. It has been used for buffets, seminars and a film set.
