Mixing it up with interactive food stations, the HOT trend for Summer parties

26 April 2017

By Hannah Wright, Venue Sales Executive

Here at Venue Reservations we have noticed that our clients are looking for something with a bit of a catering twist for their works summer party. Something different that will add a bit of a lasting memory. One of the best suggestions to accomplish this that we offer would be interactive food stations. Catering options always have a big impact on the success of any event. Forget the traditional rubber chicken dinner and go for something that will make a lasting impression to all of your guests!

Our interactive food stations provided by our caterer Seasoned, bring some much needed excitement to any corporate summer party. They will provide a greater variety of choice for your guests without breaking the budget. Take this opportunity to get your guests up out of their seats, mingle around and enjoy chatting all things food over a glass of Prosecco… or two!

We work with some superb venues where our interactive food stations would work perfectly. See just some of our listed catering venues below and our favourite interactive stations that would match the venue space.

The LookoutLookOut - Aerial view

Why not hire your own exclusive area of Hyde Park? The Lookout can hold up to 300 guests at any one time for a summer party. Not only does the venue come with a fantastic outdoor pizza o
ven but it also has fire pits for hire where you can toast marshmallows as the sun goes down! I would recommend the “Brick Lane Bar” as the interactive food station for this venue. Chicken tikka, vegetable biryani, Brick Lane potatoes, classic kachumber and vegetable samosas to name a few!

I mean, what is better than a hot and spicy menu to wet your guests’ appetite? But make no mistake, there’s more to the pizza oven than that just a deliciously Italian Margherita. Play around with the pizza toppings, go half and half and then make your way along the Brick Lane Bar for extras! The bright and colourful food station will capture attention and guests can go back and forth as many times as they like.

Lancaster HouseLancaster House (1)

The stunning Lancaster House has the most magnificent garden to host your summer party! Why would you not want to host your event in a venue where more celebrities and politicians have been than any other London iconic venue? It is a true government favourite and remains a glorious event space in a prestigious part of central London.

The “Borough Bar” is my recommended food station for Lancaster House. A selection of cured meats, arancini ball baskets, baby peppers filled with cream cheese, a selection of marinated olives and artisan breads with flavoured oil. A variety of fresh ingredients for a light afternoon lunch in the garden or a tasty evening meal. Why not add a gin cocktail or two to the menu and give your guests something to wash all that flavour and excitement down.

Museum of London

The Terrace Gallery and Garden at the Museum of London definitely gets our approval for location and its outdoor space. It is extremely popular this year for garden parties and summer receptions. The Terrace Rooms look over the museum’s private garden area which offers a tranquil aMOL (1)nd peaceful setting. Any garden event can be enhanced by taking a tour with a member of our expert team. We are on hand to make things stress free by offering the best catering options for your guests.

“Table 11 serve, table 12 serve, table 13 serve. It’s your turn for the buffet!” I think it’s time to ditch the buffet! The “Pie Shop Favourites” should be matched with this venue as our interactive fun food station. Kraft boxes of square pies with delicious fillings, including chicken and tarragon, beef steak, butternut and feta with piped cheesy mash and minted garden peas and kimchi. A Pimm’s bar would also go down well next to this station to keep the drinks flowing.

Stationers’ Hall

Looking for a little sun trap venue steps away from St Pauls Cathedral? Stationers’ Hall could be the venue for you. The garden features possibly the oldest and tallest plane tree in London. From the garden there are smaller rooms available inside just in case the great British weather takes a turn for the worst.

The oohs and ahhs were heard in the crowd from previous events where the “Doughnut Tub” interactive food station was placed. It’s one of my favourite dessert stations that would look perfect in the garden at Stationers’ Hall. Custard, nutella or classic ring doughnuts – take your pick! Then be prepared to fight over the toppings – hot chocolate sauce, berry coulis, chopped nuts, cinnamon sugar shakers, mini marshmallows and cream guns! The dedicated Seasoned chefs will be on hand at all times to help with all the final flourishes and to avoid any dripping sauce encounters.
